Huawei is all set to launch its new models, Mate 90s and Mate X2 Trifold, between September 2026 and October 2026, though officially not confirmed but as rumored through tech websites and is planned to go head-to-head with Apple iPhone 18.

Huawei Mate 90 Series:
It is understood from various website sources that Huawei is set to launch its Mate 90s in four variants, namely:
- Standard
- Pro
- Pro Max
- RS Ultimate Design
Processor:
The Mate Series is going to be the first in the industry to offer 3D stacked chip design using Kirin 9050 series processor in a 3D space.

Instead of placing all elements of the processor, namely Wi-Fi, Main Processor, and GPU processor horizontally, Huawei is rumored to be placing all of the circuits vertically, aka 3D, which the company calls as per the ‘Tau Scaling Law’, with improved transistor density of 55.3%, whereas chip size is reduced by 33% while increasing the performance by 43%.
Display:
The Huawei Mate 90 and Mate X2 Trifold series is rumored to provide Dual-layer OLED Display with 10,000 Nits of Brightness with HDR+ and Near-to-Life Display.

What it means for the End User?
Industry-leading and bright display with a brightness of 10,000 nits means readability and usability under direct sunlight, which will make it easy for the end user to conveniently use the mobile in direct sunlight.
The Pro Max is going to be equipped with 6.9-inch display with 1.5K resolution.
Battery and Charging:
The Battery Capacity is rumored to be between 6800 mAh to 7000 mAh, providing all-day power to fulfill your entertainment thirst and multimedia consumption, thereby reducing frequent charging. Also equipped with 66W charging for Mate 90s and 100W for Pro Max, reducing charging time and making you always ready to go with all-day power.
Camera:
Standard Mate 90:
- 50MP main
- 40MP ultrawide
- 50MP telephoto
- 0.7MP multispectral lens
- 13MP front camera with ToF sensor
Mate 90 Pro Max:
- 200MP main sensor
- 40MP ultra-wide
- 50MP dual-telephoto pair
- Third-generation “Red Maple” color camera
- 15MP ultra-wide front camera with 3D face unlock
- New square camera module design
Mate XT2: The Tri-Fold Gets a Redesign
Huawei’s third tri-fold phone is a separate device on a separate (and slightly messier) rumor timeline. Earlier leaks from April pointed to an October launch alongside the Mate 90; more recent September reporting suggests Huawei is actually splitting the two into separate launch events, with the tri-fold arriving first.
What’s Changing
Form factor: A shift from the current Z-shaped fold to a U-shaped design, said to be at least 30% flatter than the Mate XTs, with no raised parts or curves.
Cover screen: Possibly returning for the first time in three years, letting users handle basic tasks without unfolding all three panels.
Chip: Most recent leaks converge on the Kirin 9050 Pro — though this has flip-flopped in earlier reports (the Mate XTs used Kirin 9020, the original Mate XT used Kirin 9010).
Battery: Tipped at 6,000mAh+, paired with a 100W charger and wireless charging support.
Cameras: A 1/1.28-inch primary sensor, an ultrawide lens, a 1/2.5-inch periscope telephoto, and a new multispectral sensor.
Why the Timing Matters
Huawei has reportedly shifted the Mate 90’s usual November launch slot up to September specifically to coincide with Apple’s iPhone cycle — a direct competitive positioning move rather than a coincidence. Pairing that with a tri-fold that may out-flex anything Samsung currently has on the market, Huawei looks to be trying to dominate the “most interesting phone launch” conversation for the entire month.
